For as long as I can remember, I said I’d be a travel writer if I didn’t have to worry about making a living. Well, I still need to make a living, but the world changed, and now I can do that anywhere I have my laptop and a connection to the Internet.
I’ve also said for a long time that I want to live outside the US for some period of time, “like maybe a couple of years.” I was always stumped by the question that came next: where do you want to go? It was always easier to list places I don’t want to live (places where English is the native language) than to pick one place to set up an ex-pat life.
I realized on a voyage of self-discovery with the Modern Elder Academy in Baja in the summer of 2022 that I don’t have to choose. By finding a job that allows me to work remotely and renting out my home in Denver while away, I can sample as many places as I want. This blog, a hobby for now, charts my journey as a generation-x digital nomad, maybe or maybe not on his way to becoming an ex-nomad.
See what I did there?
